10 best Georgia alumni in NFL history

It’s been a good run for the Georgia Bulldogs, who have won back-to-back national championships. The school has also had its share of NFL superstars.

In 2022, the University of Georgia saw 15 of its players selected by NFL teams in late April. It was a record for one school in a seven-round draft which dates back to 1994.

Here’s a look at 10 standout performers from the school that made the biggest mark in the National Football League. Herschel Walker complied a lot of numbers and is worth a mention here but he didn’t crack this Top 10. Recent standouts such as wide receiver A.J. Green (who announced his retirement this offseason), talented runner Todd Gurley and current Cleveland Browns’ workhorse Nick Chubb also just missed making this list.

It’s also worth noting that three of these 10 players earned Super Bowl MVP honors during their impressive NFL careers.

10. Ray Donaldson

The Bulldogs have had some top-notch offensive linemen make significant impacts in the NFL. That includes Len Hauss, Guy McIntyre and active center Ben Jones. The latter is an 11-year veteran currently looking for work after being released by the Tennessee Titans this offseason.

Ray Donaldson was a second-round draft choice of the then-Baltimore Colts in 1980 and would spend the first 13 years of his NFL career with the franchise. He earned four Pro Bowl invitations with the club. It was on to Seattle in 1993 and after two years in the Pacific Northwest, he joined the Dallas Cowboys in 1995. He was not only named to two more Pro Bowls with the ‘Boys, he won a Super Bowl ring (XXX) in his first season with the club.
