NFL Draft rumors: Trade sleeper calling to move into Top 10

One day ahead of the start of the 2023 NFL Draft, there is one sleeper team that is believed to be calling to trade up in the first round.

The 2023 NFL Draft officially begins on Thursday, April 27, live from Kansas City, MO The belief entering the first night is that there could be full-blown chaos after the Carolina Panthers select their quarterback of the future with the first-overall pick. Specifically, there is talk of certain teams trading down, and one team looking to make a huge leap up into the top of the NFL Draft.

KOA Colorado’s Benjamin Allbright tweeted out on Wednesday following the release of his mock draft that “we know” the Arizona Cardinals and Atlanta Falcons are both looking to trade down from the No. 3 and 8 spots, respectively. But, Allbright also notes that the Minnesota Vikings are looking to move up.

Vikings fans might be wondering why the team could be looking to trade up into the early portion of the first round, as they currently hold the No. 23 overall pick. The belief is that the Vikings are doing their homework on the quarterbacks this offseason.

Kirk Cousins is entering the final year of his contract with the Vikings and there is no indication that the team will sign him to an extension. So, that opens the door for the team to find their potential long-term answer at the position.

NFL Network national insider Ian Rapoport mentioned on Wednesday that the Vikings, along with the Detroit Lions and Tampa Bay Buccaneers, could move up if one of the top prospects drops out of the top 10.

Alabama’s Bryce Young is heavily favored to be selected by the Carolina Panthers with the first-overall pick. From there, it’s anyone’s guess as to where Ohio State’s C.J. Stroud, Kentucky’s Will Levis and Florida’s Anthony Richardson end up getting drafted.
