NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year odds (Bijan Robinson favored after being picked by Atlanta Falcons)
Following the first round of the NFL Draft, we can start to project rookie roles into the NFL.
Bryce Young went No. 1 to the Carolina Panthers, but the Alabama signal caller isn’t the favorite to win Rookie of the Year honors, nor is No. 2 pick of the Houston Texans C.J. Stroud, it’s dynamic running back Bijan Robinson, who went No. 8 to the Falcons.
Both Young and Stroud are expected to start in Week 1 while No. 4 pick Anthony Richardson may sit behind Gardner Minshew for part of the season in Indianapolis with the Colts.
However, Robinson and surprise No. 12 pick, running back Jahmyr Gibbs, are both set to be bell cow running backs that can rack up stats in favorable situations to flourish. Overall, the price tag of selecting Robinson, coupled with his likely role sets him up to be the favorite in the this market.
The last group we’ll look at is the four wide receivers selected (in a row) in the first round. Jaxon Smith-Njigba joins a fairly loaded Seahawks passing corps with Tyler Lockett and D.K. Metcalf, possibly suppressing the chance for him to burst onto the scene and rack up targets. However, the best situation is likely Zay Flowers, who landed in Baltimore with the Ravens, now that the team secured Lamar Jackson for the long term.
The other two, Quentin Johnson with the Chargers and Jordan Addison with the Vikings, will hope to put up numbers with attention going in other directions. The Chargers have a great passing game with quarterback Justin Herbert and star wide outs in Mike Williams and Keenan Allen, while Addison joins Justin Jefferson in Minnesota.
