Zendaya Had a Great Response to a False Tabloid Report About Her Rome Trip
The Daily Mail claimed Zendaya got turned away from Roman restaurant Terrazza Borromini because she was wearing a crop top. That isn’t what happened in reality. Zendaya and her team let the world know that, and Zendaya herself responded to the tabloid report with the meme equivalent of an eye roll on her Instagram Story. Zendaya posted this shortly after The Daily Mail published its article:
Her rep Scott Newman told Page Six of the claim, “This is completely false.”
Her friend Darnell Appling provided more context on his Instagram Story: “Well, this is a bald head lie. We never got denied anywhere. We walked into the building, realized we ate there before when we seen the stairs … The same stairs Zendaya slipped on last year and posted about 😩😂 We all wanted to try a new restaurant and went somewhere else to do so. We actually never went upstairs and interacted with anyone. We talked amongst ourselves in the downstairs lobby. This whole story is a lie. But y’all be blessed tho.”
Newman told Page Six the same story: “They ‘realized’ that they had previously eaten at the restaurant during a prior trip, so they ‘left and went to another place,’” the outlet wrote.
Zendaya spoke last summer to Vogue Italia about coping with the increased attention she receives now as a bigger star. “Recently I’ve had more of a change happening in regards to reactions when I meet people or how people interact with me on a daily basis, because for so long I’ve been able to maintain a little bit of anonymity in a way where I could go off and do things and still live a pretty normal life,” she prefaced. “Of course it comes with new sets of challenges and pressures, but I’ve been doing this for a long time, and I started when I was quite young. So thankfully I’ve had a little bit of time to ease and grow my experience in a way that wasn’t just completely an overnight change. I’m always adjusting to it and trying to be grateful for it all in the end, because it means that people are clearly resonating with the work that I’m doing, and that means a lot to me.”
