King Charles Did Not Invite Meghan Markle and Prince Harry to Trooping the Colour

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry will not be joining Kate Middleton, Prince William, and the other senior royals at King Charles’ first Trooping the Colour as king. And, according to People, it isn’t because Meghan and Harry decided to not make the long trip from Los Angeles to London for the event. The outlet reports that they weren’t even invited. There’s a chance no invitation was extended because the royal family knew Meghan and Harry weren’t likely to fly over, but the exact reason for their omission was not specified by People.

Neither party provided further detail when asked; per People, “Buckingham Palace and the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s office had no comment.”

Harry was in London last week to testify in his case against The Mirror’s publishers. People noted that Harry stayed at Frogmore Cottage, the Windsor home that Charles asked them to vacate earlier this year despite their lease. At the time, a source told royal reporter Omid Scobie for Yahoo U.K. “Harry and Meghan have until early summer to vacate. Initially they were given just weeks, but now they have at least until after the coronation.” Multiple sources informed Scobie that Meghan and Harry were “left stunned” by Charles’ decision to evict them from the U.K. home that the Queen gave Harry and Meghan as a wedding gift.

It doesn’t appear that Harry met with his father Charles or his brother Prince William during his stay last week.
