'My neighbour is acting weird every time I have a shower – they won't stop' – The Mirror

A miffed neighbour was left baffled when they noticed a strange pattern of behaviour from those upstairs in their apartment block – and they were left wondering why
Living in an apartment block can sometimes be noisy as if the walls are thin, you can hear every little move that your neighbours make. It's the type of ambient noise that can often be blocked out, such as running up and down the stairs – but if there are significantly loud noises, it can become seriously irritating and may leave you wanting to confront them.
One fed-up neighbour said that they'd noticed their neighbours, who are "silent for hours" during the day, decided to move around, "scraping things on the ground like they're moving furniture" but only at a specific time of the day – when they were in the shower.
They took to Reddit's 'Neighbour's from Hell' forum to write: "Ok so I live in an apartment block on the lowest floor (basement; where the car park is) and there are only three other apartments on this level, a ton above though. On the basement level, we have little 'gardens' too (shrubbery) I think to block noise from the big main road which freak me out a bit at night because they are pretty easy to get into.
"Anyway whenever I take a shower, whether it is the morning, the middle of the day, the afternoon, early night, late night, the previously silent for HOURS neighbours above me start moving around, scraping things on the ground, it sounds like they're moving furniture even it's so odd. It stops almost immediately after I leave the shower.
"I've tested this by taking short and long showers at different times of day to see if they for some reason get mad at me taking certain showers at certain times of the day or something but nope, every time. I wonder if the pipes are really loud or something? I can also hear my neighbours showering sometimes but not enough to disturb my sleep or anything. It's a little creepy."
People were quick to defend the neighbours though, saying that they may have been being nice, rather than odd. One wrote: "Maybe they wait to move stuff until they know for sure you aren't sleeping. It could actually be considerate on their part."
Another sympathised, commenting: "Not sure if it's just the acoustics in my bathroom or something but I have this exact same thing happening. The second I get in the shower I hear loud banging and scraping, shouting and loud footsteps but when I get out I don't really hear anything at all. At first, I had to get out of the shower because I thought someone was knocking at my door but couldn't hear anything. Strange to read your post because it's exactly like my apartment!"
Someone else suggested: "Perhaps the ceiling in your bathroom is thinner for whatever reason so it's the only time you can hear them", and another wrote: " If it's an old house then it might be the pipes or something."
