Texas woman attacked by hawk that dropped snake on her – Beaumont Enterprise
The hawk reportedly dropped the snake on the woman’s head before trying to grab it back from her.
A woman mowing her yard in southeast Texas last week reported having a snake fall out of the sky and land on her. Moments later, a hawk attacked her.
Around 8 p.m. last Tuesday, Peggy Jones was on her tractor mowing the yard at her home in Silsbee, a town about 30 minutes from Beaumont, when she felt the snake fall on her and wrap itself around her arm.
“The snake was squeezing so hard, and I was waving my arms in the air,” she said.
That’s when the hawk, that had dropped the snake, arrived, clawing at her about four times before it could grab the snake and fly away. Jones was left with severe cuts and blood covering her arm.
During the attack, Jones said she kept screaming, “Help me, Jesus!”
Jones’ husband later took her to the emergency room where she was checked for snake bites and treated for the cuts.
Although people have told her she is unlucky to experience an encounter like this, Jones disagrees.
“I feel like the luckiest person alive to have survived this,” she said.
