Rihanna and A$AP Rocky's Meaning Behind the Name For their Second Son
This week, the name of Rihanna and A$AP Rocky’s second son was revealed, as well as the deeper meaning behind it. Riot Rose Mayers was born on August 1 in Los Angeles, and a source told ET that the name honors both parents.
“Not everyone knows this, but Rocky loves flowers—he loves having fresh flowers in the house, he loves decorating with flowers, and he even had real flowers in his grill once,” they said, adding Roses are a particular favorite of Rihanna’s. The name Riot mirrors the title of a song released by Rocky. Since the birth of their second son, they’ve been staying and being quiet as a family.
“They know everyone wants to see a family pic—there will be one soon!” the source said.
At the Met Gala, the couple wore a look that some have speculated were a sign of what their son’s name would be. Rihanna was wearing a Valentino gown for the Karl Lagerfeld tribute night, covered in large white roses. Rocky was wearing the same red plaid kilt he wore in his “Riot” music video.
At the time, Rihanna told reporters about her second pregnancy, saying, “It’s so different from the first one. No cravings. Tons of nausea. Everything’s different, but I’m enjoying it. I feel good. I feel energetic.”
The ANTI singer revealed she was pregnant again at the Super Bowl LVII halftime show, wearing a tight-fitting outfit in red that showed off her baby bump. At the time, a source said, “Rihanna adores being a mom, and it’s her biggest accomplishment in life. She and A$AP have always wanted to grow their family and have another baby together.”
They added, “They’re so excited to grow their family and are so united when it comes to parenting. They have so much fun together and are very in love. They already shared a special connection, and parenting together has made their bond even stronger.”
