Man praised for response to 'passive aggressive' note on car parked on public road – The Mirror
When you come across a ‘passive aggressive’ note, it’s tempting stand up to its author. One driver has been praised for doing just that – and in brilliant fashion
We Brits take our parking seriously. Unfortunately, this sometimes leads to spats between neighbours. One driver keen to avoid a confrontation with a stranger has been praised for his brilliant response to a 'passive aggressive' note left on his car. The mystery driver in question, known only as Paul, went viral after his exchange was shared online.
In a photo posted to X, formerly known as Twitter, by @NoContextBrits, two handwritten notes are visible – seemingly taped to a car window. "Please move your car. Thank you," instructs the first. The second note, written in different handwriting, questions: "May I ask why?"
But Paul, its author, did not stop there. Keen to question the first writer, presumably one of his neighbours, the driver added: "It's taxed, insured, and in the road I live in. At least tell me!" He then signed the note as Paul from number 31, before adding: "Who are you?" Whether or not the driver received the response he was hoping for remains to be seen, but his witty reply has nonetheless delighted thousands.
The post, which has racked up over 780,000 views, prompted viewers to congratulate Paul. "Well said Paul …. you may own the house in which you are living but you don't own the piece of road outside it," praised one commenter. "Some people have the strange idea that they own the street in front of their house," added a second. Meanwhile, several people were left on the edge of their seats. "What happened?" viewers begged. But another had a very different question on their mind. "Is Paul a doctor, by any chance?" they quipped. "I would have said that's decent handwriting," someone else replied. "No way, you can still make out what he's saying," a different jokester said.
