'Brilliant' £1.85 trick revives tarnished jewellery and gets it looking good as new – The Mirror

The ‘oddly satisfying’ cleaning hack leaves your rusty and dirty jewellery looking brand new and it involves just five quick steps that take a few minutes to complete
A woman has shared a "brilliant" and "oddly satisfying" hack which will make your dirty-looking jewellery appear brand new.
For those who love jewellery, there is nothing more exciting than putting on a brand new shiny bracelet, necklace, ring, or earrings. While our jewels are often precious, over time rust can build up which turns those dazzling pieces to dirty and dull.
Some jewellers offer free cleaning services, while others offered paid options. To save all confusion and an extra trip out, lifestyle and organisation content creator Jessie Marie, has come up with the ultimate tip to freshen up your jewellery box. Dirt had built up on her expensive Tiffany necklace and collection of Pandora rings – turning them a dark grey colour.
"Finally", Jessie can wear her precious silverware. Her cleaning hack costs just £1.85 and does not take up too much time. You will need just three household items to do it.
Jessie, who has raked in millions of views on her TikTok page @jessiee_marie, demonstrated how she achieves her new-looking jewellery. She puts some aluminium foil around a small bowl before placing the pieces in it.
Next, she puts in three shakes of baking soda before adding some boiling water – it needs to cover the jewellery. Jessie said: "I let them sit for a couple of minutes and then I moved them around. After that, I rinsed them with some cold water. The life hack lover then used a tea towel to try her jewellery.
Jessie said: "They [the jewellery pieces] were all tarnished and I've been seeing this hack all over the internet, so I thought I'd give it a try. You're supposed to put them in a bowl, lined with aluminium foil and cover it with some baking soda. Then, pour some hot water.
"I let them sit for a couple of minutes and then I moved them around. After that, I rinsed them with some cold water and after drying them, look how good they look."
One individual said: "I tried the same hack with my Tiffany toggle and Vivian Westwood necklace and it actually worked." "I'm trying this now," added another.
"So, I threw my jewellery away for nothing," commented one other. "I need to try this," added another user. One other wrote: "Doing this all the time to clean my jewellery."
