A flying saucer photographed in Argentina, a mysterious metal object found on a house in Philly, and Amelia Earhart’s family on the possible discovery of her plane were among the weird and wondrous stories to cross our desk this past week.
In somewhat surprising turn of events, this past week saw the family of Amelia Earhart responded to the news that the pioneering pilot’s lost plane may have finally been found. Despite undoubtedly having seen similar assertions offered in the past, the aviator’s great-nephew Bram Kleppner expressed optimism about the sonar images that appear to show a submerged aircraft near where her historic around-the-world journey is believed to have met its tragic end. Should the anomaly turn out to be Earhart’s plane, he indicated that the family would like to see it salvaged and put on display at the Smithsonian Museum.

A pair of puzzling mysteries popped up on our radar this past week, beginning with a weird case out of Philadelphia where a family discovered a sizeable unidentified metal object had somehow fallen onto their roof unnoticed. Somewhat resembling the door of a plane, the peculiar piece was examined by FAA investigators, though they have yet to offer any explanation for what it is and how wound up atop a house. Later in the week, a radio station in Alabama fell victim to a shocking heist wherein thieves stole their 200-foot tower, which wound up knocking them off the air. How and why the bandits made off with the enormous equipment is unknown.

A woman in Argentina made headlines this past week when she shared a remarkable series of images that appear to show a classic flying saucer. Rina Valle Juárez captured the fantastic photos while driving to the community of San Pedro de Colalao with her husband. Snapping pictures of the wildlife in the area, her attention was drawn to a dark form that she initially suspected was a blackbird, but soon realized was something far stranger. When she later looked at the images, Juárez was astounded by their clarity and mused that the odd shape seemed to be some kind of ship, perhaps of the alien variety.
