Bend's Weird News Weekend – The Source Weekly
By The Source Staff
For a while there, nothing weird enough to catch the attention of the national press happened in Bend. Well, until this weekend, that is, when the Bend Weird-o-Meter went off the charts with a couple goofy-ass arrests.
First there, was the pair of morons (albeit athletic morons) who managed to climb up to the fourth floor of the Oxford Hotel and broke into a series of rooms before finding an occupied unit, waking the guests and stealing a bottle of wine. The two were soon arrested, and KTVZ had a funny story about the whole incident…which was then picked up by USA Today so that the world at large would know how ridiculous things can be in Bend, Oregon.
There was also the case of a couple who got into an argument, prompting a roommate to call police, who arrived and found methamphetamine. This produced one of the best mug shot lineups we’ve seen in a long while (above).
Not weird enough for you? How about this guy who was arrested after fleeing his girlfriend’s home with some of her roommate’s underwear. When the cops got to him, they found in his possession a bag of women’s and children’s undergarments. Gross.
