The search for a UFO spotted in Norway decades ago, an alleged burglar busted thanks to his chihuahua ‘accomplice,’ and a set of possible Sasquatch tracks found in England were among the weird and wondrous stories to cross our desk this past week.
A decades-old UFO case from Norway wound up back in the news by way of a search for the apocryphal object. The 1947 incident saw the mayor of the village of Roros witness what appeared to be some kind of craft fall from the sky into the nearby Lake Djupsjoen. Although attempts to find the object proved to be futile, the mysterious event became a part of Norwegian UFO lore. This past week, it was revealed that a team of researchers recently used sonar to scour the lake and, in the process, detected an anomalous form that just might be the oddity spotted by the mayor of Roros so long ago.

This past week saw a pair of odd arrests involving animals, beginning with a weird burglary bust in Canada. Winnipeg authorities investigating the pair of break-ins were provided an unusual clue as the suspect inexplicably brought his chihuahua along on the heists. Instructed to keep an eye out for the man and his proverbial best friend, cops quickly nabbed the alleged burglar when he was spotted walking the diminutive dog down the street. Later in the week, customs officers at an airport in Bangkok thwarted a sinister smuggling operation in which six Indian nationals attempted to sneak a staggering 87 animals, including an endangered red panda, out of the country.

A trio of peculiar pictures possibly providing evidence for high strangeness popped up in the news this past week. First, in England, a group of hikers photographed a sizeable footprint from a trail of sizeable tracks that some believe may have been left behind by Bigfoot. Meanwhile, also in Britain, a motorist managed to capture an intriguing image of what appears to be a dead big cat on the side of a road. Strangely, when she returned to the spot an hour later to get a better look at the mysterious creature, it had inexplicably vanished. Finally, a man driving home from work in New York State snapped a puzzling picture of two glowing orbs that briefly appeared in the sky.
