Average penis sizes around the world revealed as UK and US fall short of top 10 spot – The Mirror
British and American men may be disappointed to learn that their penises don’t even make it into the top 50 countries when it comes to size, according to researchers in Germany
Men in Ecuador could be celebrating after German researchers crunched the figures from 40 different studies and found they have the largest manhoods in the world.
Whether or not you are a believer that size matters when it comes to a man's penis, what nationality you are can apparently predetermine the length of male genitals. It seems that the topic is a very popular one too, with many people desperate to know how each country measures up to each other.
Scientists in Germany say they are asked the question more than any other, which is they decided to take the date from 40 studies to collate it into their research on worldwide penis length. "No other topic on this website has been asked for more often than the average size of male genitalia," WorldData.com confirmed.
They analysed the results of studies from nearly 90 countries and were able to rank penis sizes from largest to smallest. The country whose men had the biggest was Ecuador, with an average erect size of almost 7 inches (17.6cm), according to their data. Cameroon came in second place, with a mean size of just over 6.5 inches (16.6cm) and in third place were Bolivian men with 6.5 inches (16.5cm).
Those with the smallest came from Cambodia – their men came in at just under 4 inches (10cm). Although they weren't last, the UK and US were way down the list – American men are in 60th place with an average of 5.3 inches (13.5cm) and British fellas are in 68th with an average penis size of 5.2in (13.1cm).
When it came to European men, the Netherlands were at 9th place, with 6.25 inches (15.8cm) and France were in 11th with 6.2 inches (15.7cm). Italian men were in 19th place with just slightly over 6 inches (15cm).
The scientists collected the data from studies where measurements were taken independently where possible because men have a tendency to exaggerate their own results.
They suggested how to measure a penis – on the upper side from the root of the shaft to the tip of the glans. They said if there is a fat pad above the root, this could be slightly pressed in during measurement. Circumference wasn't included in the evaluation.
Researchers said they couldn't really spot any correlation between a man's height and his penis size but did find countries with higher obesity rates had smaller manhoods. No connection was found between the age of a man and the size of his penis.
The study also explained the difference between 'growers' and 'showers'. Around 80 percent of men have a blood penis or 'grower' where the penis is smaller in a flaccid state. These men mainly live in colder climates. The rest live in hotter countries and tend to have 'showers' where the penis is already quite large and when erect changes in terms of hardness and not really length.
