Woman's £50 DIY tattoo goes terribly wrong and looks like 'hairy member' – The Mirror

A 35-year-old was left ‘fuming’ after her DIY-ink of a heart and ended up looking rather phallic like, and resulted in a trip to the hospital after the tattoo got infected
One woman discovered you should never mix booze with a £50 tattoo kit from Amazon, the hard way…
Natalie Rene tested out the cheap DIY product with friends after having a few drinks – but ended up going to hospital three days later due to an infection. The 35-year-old has since splashed out on six cover-up sessions after her tattoo of a heart and arrow looked like a 'hairy penis'.
It's safe to say the law student has learnt her lesson and won't be trusting her drunken friends to tattoo her again, unless she's after a phallic-inspired piece of artwork…
"The tattoo was meant to be a love heart with an arrow through it but because it was so deep and the scarring, it looked like a hairy penis," she said. "I also got a few more that night from the same friend – a weird spirally thing on my leg with an R on it and a love heart on my hand, another arrow on my foot and a semicolon thing on my wrist."
Following three years of putting up with the bodged ink, Rene decided to get rid of the phallic-shaped tattoo and forked out an eye-watering £1,350 to cover some of the bad designs. She's also no longer in contact with her former friend and amateur tattooist…

"Straight away after I woke up that morning I thought 'this isn't how I pictured it' because I was drunk when I had them done – then the reality kicked in," she added. "My family were so angry and told me I was stupid and needed to get rid of it.
"I was fuming about it but I will take accountability. After having it done I went to get blood in the hospital. My other arm would never give blood – so I HAD to roll my sleeve up and say sorry when they spotted the tattoo." Rene, from Loughborough, said nurses 'giggled' at the tattoo as the scar from the arrow 'makes it look like a penis'.
Despite the nightmarish situation, Rene still hasn't binned the DIY tattoo kit but has resisted the temptation to self-ink again. "It's the stupidest thing but the easiest thing to get hold of – even an 11-year-old or 12-year-old could buy one," she said. "I don't know what possessed me to get them. I wanted a time machine."
