Welcome to another entry in our column, The Week’s Weirdest World News. The world, you might have noticed, is a very strange place — so every seven days, we’ll be rounding up the most bizarre things that have happened across the globe, purely for your enjoyment.
From an alleged “slingshot shooter” terrorizing his neighbors to a Spanish town banning penis suits from parties, these stories are sure to inspire wonder — or, at the very least, befuddlement — at the weird ol’ world around us.
An 81-year-old man suspected of being a “serial slingshot shooter” who terrorized his Los Angeles neighborhood for a decade has died just days after being arrested.
The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office said Prince King, who lived in Azusa, died of heart disease on Thursday.
Just a day before his death, neighbors learned that police had arrested King on suspicion of victimizing “dozens of citizens” by firing ball bearings at their windows and windshields over the course of nine to 10 years.
Police Lt. Jake Bushey told the Orange County Register that King’s targets were not random, but it is not known why certain neighbors were targeted.
“We’re not aware of any kind of motive other than just malicious mischief,” Bushey said.
King had pleaded not guilty and was set to appear in court next month.
North Korea flew more than 200 balloons of trash and manure toward South Korea, prompting the South’s military to mobilize.

North Korea launched hundreds of balloons carrying excrement and trash into its neighbor’s territory, South Korea said Wednesday, after the regime vowed to retaliate in response to being sent anti-North Korean leaflets from the South.
According to South Korea’s military, more than 200 balloons carrying trash, bottles, old batteries, leaflets, fertilizer and other waste were sent across its border from the North. Photographs released by the military show garbage-filled bags tied to inflated balloons, as well as “excrement” written on a bag attached to a collapsed balloon.
“These acts by North Korea clearly violate international law and seriously threaten our people”s safety,” South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff told Yonhap News Agency. “[We] sternly warn North Korea to immediately stop these inhumane and vulgar acts.”
The barrage comes after North Korea’s vice defense minister, Kim Kang-il, warned the country would take “tit-for-tat action” against leaflets condemning leader Kim Jong Un being sent into its territory by South Korean activists.
How quickly could you type the alphabet with your nose (with spaces)? India’s Vinod Kumar Chaudhary did it in 26.73 seconds ⌨️👃 pic.twitter.com/IBt7vghVai
A man in India has beaten his own world record for typing the alphabet with his nose.
Vinod Kumar Chaudhary first broke the Guinness World Record for fastest time to type the alphabet with the nose in 2023, when he secured a time of 27.80 seconds. He smashed his own record again later that year, completing the Roman alphabet, with spaces, in 26.73 seconds.
Now, Chaudhary, who is known as “The Typing Man of India,” has broken the world record again by completing the feat in just 25.66 seconds.
In addition to his nose-typing talent, Chaudhary holds records for the fastest time to type the alphabet backwards with a single hand, at 5.36 seconds, and the fastest time to type the alphabet with hands behind the back, at 6.78 seconds.
Speaking to the Guinness World Records, Chaudhary claimed that the hours spent practising typing with his nose “would sometimes make him so dizzy he’d see stars.”

A popular resort town in Spain has passed a bylaw banning penis suits and sex dolls from bachelor and bachelorette parties in the area.
Platja d’Aro in the Costa Brava is a hotspot for stag and hen nights — but those planning on wearing genital-themed costumes or carrying sexy props to celebrate could now face fines of up to €1,500 ($1,626).
Under the new regulation, people are banned from taking to “the public thoroughfare without clothing or only in their underwear or with clothing or accessories representing human genitals or with dolls or other accessories of a sexual nature.”
The town’s mayor, Maurici Jiménez, said the risqué behavior exhibited by partying tourists has “an impact on the community’s coexistence and we need to fight against them.”
