People 'disgusted' after spotting breastmilk soap advert on Facebook Marketplace – The Mirror

A bizarre Facebook marketplace ad for breastmilk soap has left Reddit users disgusted, but some people argue it is ‘perfectly normal’ and its use has health benefits
Facebook Marketplace has been known for its weird and wonderful listings over the years since its launch in 2016 – and now there's an item for sale which arguably tops the lot.
Reddit users expressed their "disgust" after a user shared an ad from his local area by someone selling bars of breastmilk soap. At a discounted price of $7 (around £5.51) reduced from $10 (£7.87), potential buyers can enjoy the luxury of a good scrub courtesy of the mammary glands.
"Facebook Marketplace is something else," declared the man who spotted the listing. A snap of the unusual item, meanwhile, showed the product as a cream-coloured block closer resembling blue cheese than something you might wish to wash your face with.
Slamming the item, one Reddit user penned in response: "Yuck, and the worst part is you just know someone will buy it and do something weird with it because breast milk." Another agreed: "Disgusting. Where is this being sold for $7? Tell me now?"
A third cursed: "Let's ignore the fact the layers clearly separated before it solidified." And a fourth joked: "This is the 'enough internet for today' button."
Others, meanwhile, were "grossed out" by small stringy like parts, embedded within the block. "I'm more concerned about the little creatures living in it," one person said in shock. "Mmm, so wormy," quipped another.
A third person laughed: "Now with the exfoliating power of pubic hair." And a fourth asked: "Does it come with nipple hair? I hope it does."
Elsewhere on the post, however, some hailed the health benefits of breastmilk, insisting such a product was commonplace. "Milk soap, when done right, has a really amazing lather and is soft on the skin," a woman explained. "Breast milk has more controversial discussions since it's a lot harder to know how good the milk is since non-human milk has a lot of safety measures in place when you buy it.
A second agreed: "I'm just astonished by how extremely grossed out people get by breastmilk. Like, babies literally eat it (drink it?) But it's too gross to put on your skin? If it was cow's milk, how is that any LESS gross? It's still coming out of their boobs."
While a third said: "It’s common practice. Breast milk food safety has a lot of rules to it so if milk becomes unusable one of the things you can do is create soap with it. It’s supposedly helpful for skin conditions like baby acne or eczema."
