Police have been called to reports of an assault on a clown at a Halloween event in North Wales.
The member of staff, who witnesses say was dressed as a clown, was taken to hospital for “precautionary medical checks” following the incident at Zip World in Conwy on Monday night.
Zip World said rumours of a knife attack at the Ffear Fforest event in Betws-y-Coed were incorrect.
“A potentially dangerous medical device was discovered,” a spokesperson said.
The site was temporarily closed while police investigated. It was later reopened once deemed safe.
Organisers say Ffear Fforest will now continue running nightly events until 3 November.
“We’d like to reassure customers that their safety and that of our staff remains paramount and, as a precaution, we’ve increased security measures for the remaining nights,” the spokesperson added.
A spokesperson for North Wales Police confirmed they were called to a report of an assault at Zip World on Monday evening and said there was “no risk to the wider public”.
“The victim sustained a needlestick injury but was released from hospital following a precautionary check-up,” the spokesperson added.
“Our investigation into the circumstances of this incident is currently ongoing.”
