Starbucks fan shares worst customer names they've ever seen and 'feels bad' for some – The Mirror US

A Starbucks fan has shared the worst names she has heard while waiting for their drinks.
Baristas will usually take your name so they can let you know when your drink is ready, but having your name called out can be embarrassing if you're not a fan of the moniker your parents picked out for you. One regular at the coffee chain has now revealed some of the more unusual titles fellow customers have.
Taking to Reddit, she said: "The first lady ordered a coffee and bagel for 'Sapphire' but she said it's spelled, 'Saffire'. The second lady ordered a croissant for 'Gemstone' and yes, that's her name. It's spelled 'Jemstone'.
'My wife wanted to hide huge secret from her sister – I told her behind her back'
'I gave my son a very normal name but everyone has the same strange reaction'
"The third lady got a caramel frappuccino and said 'Luna' but it's spelled 'Lunnaa' and yes, 2 A's. it was super odd. When I ordered my hot cocoa I couldn't stop feeling bad for these ladies. The cashier had an odd expression and clearly felt weirded out by the names."
The woman said the trio looked about 16, which made her wonder what was happening in the 2000s to make parents pick such unusual names. Commenting on her post, one user said: "One time the barista wrote “Meow” on my cup. That is 100% not my name, but I must have mumbled."
Another user added: "When I go to Starbucks, I expect them to write my name wrong. They basically always do." A third user said: "Who the hell cares how the barista spells their name? Joe, Jo, Johw, just give me my coffee. That’s the really weird part."
One more user added: "Plot twist: their names are actually Sarah, Edith, and Ruth and the names they gave are what they use on the social media accounts they aren't supposed to have." However, some Starbucks customers believe the coffee chain purposely misspells names on their cups to encourage people to share pictures of the 'funny' mistake online.
TikTok user Esteban Andrade, who is known as @estenick online, said: "They put your name in order to make you feel special and make you feel part of the brand. But you've noticed sometimes these people also give you the wrong name.
"This is very simple. When people see that you have put their name incorrectly then there's a high chance these people will be posting in social media, laughing about it, or commenting about it. It means now their followers will see this. In theory, this means Starbucks is getting free marketing by just doing this simple 'mistake'."
