Cat owners' 'grateful' after fire crews rescue embarrassed moggy from drainpipe – Express
In a heartwarming story, a Clevedon cat named John found herself in a bit of a pickle after getting stuck inside a drainpipe. The poor feline was discovered headfirst in the pipe, causing her owners to worry.
Luckily, John didn’t have to use up one of her nine lives as she escaped without any serious injuries. Photos of a rather sheepish-looking John were shared by Clevedon Firefighters on Facebook following the Saturday morning incident at 9.55am.
The post quickly gained traction as hundreds praised the emergency services and sent their best wishes to the fortunate feline. Avon Fire and Rescue Service revealed that ladders and small tools were used to free John, reports Somerset Live.
They opted for the “easiest and least distressing option was to cut a section of the pipe out with John in situ” which was to cut a section of the pipe out with John still inside. They said: “A crew from Clevedon were called at 0955 this morning to a cat not stuck up a tree but stuck in a drainpipe! John (Yes John) the cat had get herself (Yes John is a girl, it’s a long story) stuck in a garage drainpipe from the inside of the garage.”
“The crew used ladders and small tools to cut John out. The easiest and least distressing option was to cut a section of the pipe out with John in situ. John was then transported to a local vets who sedated her in order for the rescue to continue where no serious injury was found.”“John was left with the vet and her family to be checked over by the vet until well enough to return home. #NotJustFires #ONCALL.”
John’s mother expressed her gratitude for the rescue, telling the team she was “so grateful”. Cassie Darling responded to the fire service saying: “I’m so grateful to you guys for rescuing my girl. We’ve been having a cuddle and watching her rise to fame absolutely bonkers! Thank you so much xxx.”
‘Vets4Pets Clevedon’ were praised for their role in the rescue of John.
They said: “Saturday took an unexpected turn when gorgeous little Juno (John) arrived at the practice alongside the fire brigade after getting herself stuck in a pipe! An intravenous catheter was placed in Juno’s leg and Juno received some oxygen therapy and sedation whilst the pipe was removed by the fire brigade.”“She was then cuddled and pampered before being returned home to her relieved owner. We are extremely grateful for Clevedon fire brigade’s help with Juno and hope she stays out of any further trouble!”.
Cassie also expressed her gratitude to the vets, stating: “Can’t thank you ladies enough for your care We’ve been cuddling all afternoon, just picked the phone to discover she’s now an internet sensation! What a bonkers day! Xx.”
