Western civilisation 'is about to collapse for one reason and it's not WW3', expert says – Daily Star

An expert and investor claims the Western would could cease to exist due to the rise of "woke" thinking and digital currencies.
Author Doug Casey wrote a book called "Crisis Investing" which topped the New York Times nonfiction chart. The book focuses on the "looming crisis" facing Western civilisation. Now, the speculator has narrowed his focus on signs and warnings he thinks points to our imminent collapse, based on his study of historical events such as the fall of Ancient Rome.
You might be thinking that Doug Casey would cite the likes of Putin and Ukraine as some of the reasons for the end of the modern world, as experts have previously reported.
However, the expert believes that the concept of "free thought" is being "washed away" due to "cancel culture and political correctness and thought crimes."
Another one of his beliefs is the decline of the free market pointing to the decline of the west.
He told DailyMail.com: "People who believe in the state believe in coercion, and they believe the government has a right to direct these things. That's on the upsurge as well."
Casey also added that Western society in its current form has several parallels to the fall of Rome, where power became more and more centralised, and former soldiers became the recipients of welfare.
He said: "After wars, particularly the Punic Wars, the Yeoman farmers that went off to defend the interests of the Republic came home.
"Their farms were in disrepair and bankrupt, so they'd have to move to the cities where they became recipients of welfare. There are a lot of parallels to that in in the modern West."
A third warning sign is the steady decline of cash. Most people now use their bank cards, relying on the likes of Apple Pay for their everyday needs.
Casey said: "Cash allows you to build wealth on your own, privately. And what seems to be on the runway are central bank digital currencies.
"If those are instituted, there will be zero privacy of what you own, what you buy, what you sell, everything will be known in a very powerful computer, especially with AI.
"This becomes much more ominous than it's ever been in the past. So if you believe in privacy and individualism, the CBDC is going to put paid to any remnants of that."
His final sign is that society could collapse due to the rule of war "evaporating." Instead of laws, there are "millions and millions" of micro regulations.
