NFL quarterback rankings, Week 11: Justin Fields is here
The Chicago Bears have been looking for a quarterback since the Korean War. It appears they finally have their man in Justin Fields.
Our 2022 FanSided NFL quarterback rankings go live each Wednesday morning throughout the regular season, and we use a sliding scale incorporating current and past performances, with the former meaning more as the year goes on.
NFL quarterback rankings
32
Jon Wolford
Last Week: NA Los Angeles Rams
2022 stats: 212 yards | 63.7 comp % | 1 TD | 1 INT | 5.9 YPA | 21.3 QBR
The Rams are cooked, and Wolford didn’t help matters by providing very little offense against a bad Cardinals defense last week.
31
Colt McCoy
Last Week: NA Arizona Cardinals
2022 stats: 238 yards | 70.3 comp % | 1 TD | 0 INT | 6.4 YPA | 70.4 QBR
McCoy isn’t a starter by any means, but he’s a quality backup. The Cardinals are still alive after beating Los Angeles last week, with Kyler Murray hopefully on the way back.
30
Kenny Pickett
Last Week: 30 Pittsburgh Steelers
2022 stats: 1,161 yards | 66.7 comp % | 2 TD | 8 INT | 6.0 YPA | 39.4 QBR
Pickett avoided big mistakes against the Saints and allowed the rest of the team to do the dirty work. That’s the formula right now.
29
P.J. Walker
Last Week: 29 Carolina Panthers
2022 stats: 731 yards | 55.4 comp % | 3 TD | 3 INT | 6.9 YPA | 23.4 QBR
Walker has struggled for the most part, but he brings a big arm and some athleticism to Carolina.
28
Davis Mills
Last Week: 27 Houston Texans
2022 stats: 1,975 yards | 62.4 comp % | 11 TD | 9 INT | 6.7 YPA | 32.5 QBR
Mills makes too many mistakes for a quarterback who doesn’t generate chunk yardage. It’s not a winning recipe.
27
Mac Jones
Last Week: 28 New England Patriots
2022 stats: 1,140 yards | 66.1 comp % | 4 TD | 7 INT | 6.8 YPA | 32.6 QBR
Coming out of their bye, the Patriots desperately need Jones to cut down on the turnovers and play a simple game.
26
Matt Ryan
Last Week: NA Indianapolis Colts
2022 stats: 2,230 yards | 68.9 comp % | 10 TD | 9 INT | 6.9 YPA | 44.7 QBR
After being inserted back into the lineup, Ryan played his best game of the year, completing 21-of-28 passes to beat the Raiders in Las Vegas.
25
Zach Wilson
Last Week: 26 New York Jets
2022 stats: 1,202 yards | 57.5 comp % | 4 TD | 5 INT | 7.2 YPA | 49.1 QBR
If the Jets are going to make the postseason, they’ll need Wilson to be smart and secure with the football.
The Tennessean
24
Russell Wilson
Last Week: 24 Denver Broncos
2022 stats: 1,980 yards | 57.4 comp % | 7 TD | 5 INT | 7.3 YPA | 33.0 QBR
Wilson has been one of the biggest disappointments in recent memory. He’s struggled to execute any part of Nathaniel Hackett’s offense.
23
Taylor Heinicke
Last Week: 25 Washington Commanders
2022 stats: 840 yards | 62.0 comp % | 5 TD | 4 INT | 6.9 YPA | 47.2 QBR
Heinicke will stay in the starting role even with Carson Wentz’s return. He’s given the Commanders a spark, showcased in their win over Philadelphia.
22
Andy Dalton
Last Week: 22 New Orleans Saints
2022 stats: 1,559 yards | 65.0 comp % | 11 TD | 7 INT | 7.2 YPA | 45.8 QBR
Dalton started out well for the Saints, but with every start, his effectiveness is waning. Too many bad errors.
21
Marcus Mariota
Last Week: 18 Atlanta Falcons
2022 stats: 1,747 yards | 61.9 comp % | 12 TD | 7 INT | 7.6 YPA | 59.1 QBR
Mariota should soon give way to Desmond Ridder. He was downright terrible against the Panthers on Thursday night, dealing a brutal loss to Atlanta.
20
Ryan Tannehill
Last Week: NA Tennessee Titans
2022 stats: 1,252 yards | 62.6 comp % | 8 TD | 3 INT | 7.4 YPA | 49.9 QBR
Tannehill did very little against the Broncos, save for a long flea-flicker. On Thursday, he’ll need to be more effective at Lambeau facing the Packers.
19
Jacoby Brissett
Last Week: 19 Cleveland Browns
2022 stats: 2,074 yards | 63.8 comp % | 8 TD | 5 INT | 7.2 YPA | 61.5 QBR
Brissett has a few more starts before Deshaun Watson takes over. He’s done a fine job, showing why he’s an elite backup.
18
Daniel Jones
Last Week: 23 New York Giants
2022 stats: 1,596 yards | 65.8 comp % | 8 TD | 2 INT | 6.7 YPA | 60.2 QBR
Jones has done an incredible job in 2022 of protecting the ball and allowing Saquon Barkley to be the offensive engine in New York.
17
Trevor Lawrence
Last Week: 17 Jacksonville Jaguars
2022 stats: 2,334 yards | 65.2 comp % | 13 TD | 6 INT | 6.7 YPA | 52.1 QBR
Lawrence was very efficient in Kansas City. Despite being sacked five times, he avoided turnovers and made some high-end throws in defeat.

16
Jimmy Garoppolo
Last Week: 16 San Francisco 49ers
2022 stats: 1,931 yards | 66.8 comp % | 11 TD | 4 INT | 8.1 YPA | 48.2 QBR
Garoppolo isn’t asked to do much in San Francisco’s scheme, but he’s maximizing his throws, being third-best in the NFL at 8.1 YPA.
15
Justin Fields
Last Week: 21 Chicago Bears
2022 stats: 1,489 yards | 58.9 comp % | 12 TD | 7 INT | 7.2 YPA | 57.2 QBR
Who is rising faster up the ranks than Fields? He’s been tremendous, showcasing why the Bears were right to select him in last year’s first round. An awesome combination of athleticism, IQ and arm.
14
Aaron Rodgers
Last Week: 20 Green Bay Packers
2022 stats: 2,315 yards | 65.0 comp % | 17 TD | 7 INT | 6.9 YPA | 39.7 QBR
Rodgers had perhaps his best game of the season, throwing three touchdown passes — all to rookie Christian Watson — in a comeback win over the Cowboys.
13
Derek Carr
Last Week: 12 Las Vegas Raiders
2022 stats: 2,128 yards | 62.4 comp % | 13 TD | 5 INT | 6.8 YPA | 54.8 QBR
This has been a disastrous season for the Raiders, and Carr isn’t blameless. Not enough big plays, too many missed shots, etc. Very much a middling season from the vet.
12
Jared Goff
Last Week: 13 Detroit Lions
2022 stats: 2,277 yards | 63.8 comp % | 15 TD | 7 INT | 7.6 YPA | 54.8 QBR
The Lions aren’t good, but Goff has been solid. Nobody is clamoring about Goff’s resurgence this season, but he’s given Detroit quality play.
11
Kirk Cousins
Last Week: 10 Minnesota Vikings
2022 stats: 2,356 yards | 64.1 comp % | 14 TD | 8 INT | 6.7 YPA | 48.0 QBR
Cousins is the hardest quarterback to evaluate on a down-to-down basis. Nobody makes a great play and then throws right at a defender like Cousins.
10
Dak Prescott
Last Week: 9 Dallas Cowboys
2022 stats: 856 yards | 63.8 comp % | 6 TD | 4 INT | 6.7 YPA | 52.8 QBR
Prescott needs to drop after what was a poor performance in Green Bay. Too many misses, too many turnovers, and ultimately an ugly defeat.
9
Justin Herbert
Last Week: 8 Los Angeles Chargers
2022 stats: 2,450 yards | 65.8 comp % | 14 TD | 6 INT | 6.4 YPA | 55.2 QBR
The Chargers need Herbert to make more splash plays. The problem is Los Angeles’ scheme is essentially “throw to Austin Ekeler.” Ekeler is on pace for almost 130 receptions and less than 800 yards. That says it all.

8
Tom Brady
Last Week: 11 Tampa Bay Buccaneers
2022 stats: 2,805 yards | 66.0 comp % | 12 TD | 2 INT | 6.6 YPA | 54.5 QBR
Brady is second in passing yardage. At 45 years old. It feels impossible, but then again, so does Brady’e entire career.
7
Geno Smith
Last Week: 7 Seattle Seahawks
2022 stats: 2,474 yards | 72.8 comp % | 17 TD | 4 INT | 7.8 YPA | 67.6 QBR
Smith had a good game in Germany, throwing for two touchdowns and 275 yards in a loss to Tampa Bay. His breakout season continues.
6
Joe Burrow
Last Week: 6 Cincinnati Bengals
2022 stats: 2,535 yards | 70.0 comp % | 18 TD | 6 INT | 7.6 YPA | 55.5 QBR
Burrow has been phenomenal since Week 1, only throwing two interceptions. He’s quietly been one of the hottest quarterbacks in the league since.
5
Lamar Jackson
Last Week: 5 Baltimore Ravens
2022 stats: 1,768 yards | 62.3 comp % | 16 TD | 6 INT | 6.9 YPA | 65.0 QBR
Jackson isn’t going to overwhelm you with passing yardage, but he’s fantastic in all other phases. The only complaint would be limiting the turnovers.
4
Josh Allen
Last Week: 2 Buffalo Bills
2022 stats: 2,733 yards | 64.5 comp % | 20 TD | 10 INT | 8.0 YPA | 74.3 QBR
Buffalo asks Allen to do everything, and it’s starting to take a toll. Over his last 10 quarters, Allen has a lost fumble and six interceptions.
3
Jalen Hurts
Last Week: 3 Philadelphia Eagles
2022 stats: 2,217 yards | 67.9 comp % | 14 TD | 3 INT | 8.4 YPA | 63.7 QBR
Hurts was decent on Monday night in Philadelphia’s first defeat. He threw for 175 yards and two touchdowns, with an interception that hit A.J. Brown in the hands. Overall, not a bad effort.
2
Tua Tagovailoa
Last Week: 4 Miami Dolphins
2022 stats: 2,265 yards | 71.0 comp % | 18 TD | 3 INT | 9.1 YPA | 82.6 QBR
Tagovailoa deserves serious MVP consideration. He’s hurt by missing a few games due to a concussion, but his numbers rival anybody and in many cases, surpass them.
1
Patrick Mahomes
Last Week: 1 Kansas City Chiefs
2022 stats: 2,936 yards | 66.9 comp % | 25 TD | 7 INT | 8.0 YPA | 78.6 QBR
While Tagovailoa has been awesome, nobody compares to Mahomes. He’s leading the league in passing yardage and touchdowns, while ranking second in QBR and fourth in YPA. Nobody is more devastating on a weekly basis.
