Packers work out familiar face as Aaron Rodgers, offense look for answers

The Green Bay Packers are bringing in a former wide receiver as part of a six-player workout held on Tuesday.

The Green Bay Packers are 4-7 on the year following their loss to the Tennessee Titans on the Week 11 edition of Thursday Night Football. One of the main talking points is the inefficiency of the passing game, specifically at wide receiver. Yet, they have received some help from rookie Christian Watson, who scored five touchdowns in the pst two games.

But are the Packers looking to add to their wide receiver room by bringing back a familiar face?

According to various reporters, the Packers brought in former wideout Geronimo Allison as part of a six-player workout on Tuesday.

It’s unknown if the team will sign him or put him on their active roster. But Allison is a name that Green Bay fans know well.

Allison was signed by the team in 2016 as an undrafted free agent out of Illinois and spent four years with them. His final year with the team was when he logged career-highs with six starts, 33 receptions, two touchdowns and 55 targets.

Through all four years, Allison recorded 89 receptions for 1,045 yards and six touchdowns on 146 targets.

After the 2020 season, Allison signed on with the rival Detroit Lions, where he opted out of the campaign due to the COVID-19 pandemic. He did play in three games for the team in 2021, where he didn’t log a catch on two targets.

There has been no update regarding whether any of the other workout attendees were signed as of this writing.

The Packers are set to take on the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday night.
