Broncos defense finally snaps at Russell Wilson (Video)

The Denver Broncos are going through a really bad year and their defense has finally had it with Russell Wilson’s poor performance.

Big things were expected from the Denver Broncos when they traded a small fortune to acquire Russell Wilson from the Seattle Seahawks last spring. To say it has been a disappointment is an understatement as Wilson has flopped, playing a big part in the reason why Denver is falling out of the playoff picture rapidly.

Denver’s defense has done the job, holding opponents to just 17.1 points per game entering Week 12, but they are just 3-7 over their first 10 games thanks to the offense’s inability to score points. If Wilson had led the offense to just 18 points a game Denver would have been 7-3 and in hot pursuit of the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC West, so it shouldn’t come as any surprise that the Broncos’ defense is getting frustrated.

Defensive tackle Mike Purcell aired his grievances in the second half of Denver’s loss to the Carolina Panthers, notably snapping at Wilson on his way to the sideline. Check out the full video below courtesy of FOX Sports.

Wilson was inefficient against the Panthers, going 19-of-35 for 142 yards and averaging just 4.1 yards per attempt to help Denver lose their second straight game. The Broncos have become a laughing stock worthy of being mocked by their opponents as a result of Wilson’s failure to elevate the offense beyond a mediocre level.

The fact that defensive players are now snapping at Wilson on the field is a bad look for first-year head coach Nathaniel Hackett, who has looked overmatched all season long. Considering Denver’s long-term investment in Wilson via his hefty contract extension, the only way this situation may be salvageable is by dumping Hackett and hiring a more experienced coach to clean up this mess.
