The Kansas City Chiefs have maintained interest in Odell Beckham Jr., but does it make sense for them long-term despite his injury?

Odell Beckham Jr.’s uncertain injury status may have cost him his chance with the Dallas Cowboys, but that won’t stop other teams from taking a swing.

Heck, even Jerry Jones admitted that Dallas isn’t fully ‘out’ on Beckham Jr. They were merely concerned with the medicals. Micah Parsons, who would’ve been Beckham Jr.’s Cowboys teammate, said OBJ’s expected recovery time was 4-5 weeks.

That timeline might line up for a potential playoff appearance, but it’s not enough to become integrated with a talented Dallas receiving corps. So, why would the Chiefs maintain interest, per Jordan Schultz of The Score?

Just like any high-profile free agent signing, there are pros and cons to signing Odell Beckham Jr.

Pro: Chiefs won’t need Odell Beckham Jr. until the playoffs

Odell, when healthy, can be one of the more electric wide receivers in football. OBJ made a real difference in the postseason for a Rams team which already possessed Cooper Kupp and more. This year, without Beckham, Los Angeles’ offense hasn’t looked the same, though much of that can be blame to injury and a Super Bowl hangover.

Kansas City’s receiving corps is deep, and scoring isn’t an issue. Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs are 10-3 and cruising to an AFC Playoff appearance. Signing Odell would merely be adding to an embarrassment of riches.
