Cowboys sign Odell Beckham Jr. replacement in former Pro Bowl wideout

After much speculation, the Dallas Cowboys finally added an experienced wide receiver. But this performer came with two letters instead of three.

Despite having to rally the beat the one-win Houston Texans on Sunday, the Dallas Cowboys have won four straight games and own a 10-3 record.

There has been plenty of discussion in recent weeks that Mike McCarthy’s team would benefit greatly by adding electrifying wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. What team wouldn’t? When healthy, he is one of the NFL’s top playmakers. But he’s also coming off a knee injury suffered while with the Rams in Super Bowl LVI.

Recently, the free-agent offensive weapon had something to say about playing (or not playing) during the regular season. Of course, there are four weeks left before the playoffs and the Cowboys have games with the Jaguars, Eagles, Titans and Commanders. So Jerry Jones’ team opted to add another proven pass-catcher on Monday, TY Hilton.

Cowboys sign TY Hilton with Odell Beckham Jr. situation in flux

In 10 seasons with Indianapolis, the 2012 third-round pick from Florida International amassed 631 catches for 9,691 yards (15.4 yards per reception) and 53 touchdowns. In nine playoff games with the Colts, T.Y. Hilton added 47 receptions for 781 yards and three scores.

Of course, it’s worth noting that the 10-year veteran and four-time Pro Bowler has had his own problems staying healthy in recent seasons. After missing just one game during his first six seasons in the NFL, the 33-year-old Hilton missed a total of 15 contests during his final four campaigns with the Colts.

All told, Dallas’ young pass-catching corps could certainly use a veteran performer. While speedy CeeDee Lamb leads the club in receptions (74), receiving yards (961) and TD grabs (6), you could argue that quarterback Dak Prescott and the offense miss savvy and reliable Amari Cooper. Hilton brings lots of experience, including the aforementioned postseason resumé. A solid pickup indeed.
