Experts think the Packers have a legit shot at playoff spot

The Green Bay Packers haven’t looked so hot this season as they currently have a 5-8 record, but experts think they could still have a shot at a playoff spot.

The Green Bay Packers have been in a bit of a slump this season as star quarterback Aaron Rodgers has struggled ever since his Week 5 thumb injury. The team currently sits third in the NFC North with a 5-8 record, and they have a tough schedule for the remainder of the season.

While things don’t look too promising for the Packers, some are still holding out hope. According to Matt Schneidman of The Athletic, Rob Demovsky reportedly shared he thinks the Packers are “going to win out and make it.”

This is a bold prediction considering they face both the Miami Dolphins and the Minnesota Vikings in the last few games, which they’re not favored to win against as the Vikings are currently the first-place team in the division and the Dolphins are second-place in the AFC East with an 8-5 record.

Rodgers has struggled to find his rhythm since his injury too, and he’s complained of pain but hasn’t sat out yet this season.

The Packers will also face the Detroit Lions, who they have more of a chance of winning against but still aren’t favored to.

The Packers don’t actually seem likely to make the playoffs

While anything can happen, Green Bay doesn’t seem overly likely to make the playoffs. They’ve only won two games since early October, while their division competitors, the Lions, have won five. The Lions have also won in more difficult matchups, most recently the Vikings. They’ve come close to winning against other top teams, for example, a slight 28-25 loss against the Buffalo Bills.

Both teams are fighting for a playoff spot, and it seems more likely that the Lions will stay ahead given their track record. It is, of course, possible that neither will make it, but between the two teams, the Lions seem more likely to take a spot.

The Vikings are almost guaranteed to make it, but the Packers just haven’t been playing as well as they need to be considered playoff contenders.
