3 reasons to buy into Vikings Super Bowl hype despite abysmal scoring differential stat
Let’s take a look at three reasons to buy into the Minnesota Vikings Super Bowl hype, despite the skepticism.
The Minnesota Vikings have the second-best record in the NFC at 11-3. Nevertheless, their scoring differential of plus-2 is only 12th in the NFL, and it is far behind the pace of the other contending teams. Four teams currently have a scoring differential of plus-100 or higher (Philadelphia Eagles, Buffalo Bills, San Francisco 49ers, Dallas Cowboys).
This has fed some skepticism regarding the Vikings’ Super Bowl hopes, but here are three reasons to still buy in.
3. Why Vikings Super Bowl hype is worth buying into: Their offense is capable of outscoring any opponent
The Vikings have scored 30+ points in three out of their last six games. Their offense is capable of putting up a lot of points in a hurry. Last week, they scored 36 points against the Indianapolis Colts in the second half alone!
Led by Kirk Cousins, Justin Jefferson, and Adam Thielen, they can move the ball down the field with ease. Jefferson, in particular, has been phenomenal. He is leading the NFL in receptions (111) and receiving yards (1,623). The Vikings’ defense is vulnerable; they are giving up 24.9 points per game, which is the fifth-most in the NFL. Regardless, the Vikings have proven themselves to be capable of winning in a shootout. Their offense has the ability to keep them competitive with any opponent. For that reason alone, they should not be written off.
