Bills safety Damar Hamlin needs CPR on field after terrifying injury, MNF temporarily suspended [UPDATED]

Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin had CPR administered on the field after collapsing following a tackle against the Bengals, causing the game to be suspended.

There is no worse scene in sports than a player being down on the field and in medical distress.

Unfortunately, that was the scene on Monday Night Football after Bills safety Damar Hamlin went down after making a tackle against the Bengals.

Hamlin initially stood up after the play but fell down almost immediately. Medical personnel rushed out to tend to him with a stretcher and ambulance quickly following on the field.

Players on both teams looked extremely concerned as trainers reportedly performed CPR on the fallen defensive back. It took 10 minutes before he was loaded into the ambulance. He was reportedly being given oxygen.

His status beyond that is unknown.

After Hamlin was taken away in an ambulance, the game was temporarily suspended, allowing both teams to go back into the locker room to collect themselves and wait for news.
