Packers LB Quay Walker ejected after pushing Lions trainer (Video)

Packers rookie linebacker Quay Walker became the first player to be ejected twice this season after he pushed a Lions trainer on Sunday night in Week 18.

Sunday Night Football has not been a good time for Green Bay Packers rookie linebacker Quay Walker — even if it’s largely been his own doing. But his latest blunder might’ve been the push that moved his team out of the playoffs.

In the final game of the regular season, the Packers were hanging onto a three-point lead with the rival Lions driving down the field. After the refs missed a dirty play on Detroit running back D’Andre Swift as he was elbowed in the head after the play, the team’s trainers came out to check on him.

As the trainers tried to make their way into the pile, though, Walker took offense to one moving him to the side and proceeded to shove him towards the pile of players.

Walker was initially flagged for unsportsmanlike conduct but allowed to stay in the game. After a brief review and discussion, though, the refs stopped play and ejected him from the contest.

Packers: Quay Walker ejected for pushing Lions trainer in boneheaded move

Earlier in the season, Walker was also ejected on Sunday Night Football in a contest against the Bills when he shoved an undressed inactive Buffalo practice squad player on the sidelines. Suffice it to say his temperament in primetime could use some work.

The penalty in Week 18 against the Lions proved costly, though, as it gave Detroit 15 free yards and ultimately set up a go-ahead touchdown that effectively ended Green Bay’s real hopes of making it into the playoffs.

Walker has been a great player on the field in his rookie season with the Packers. Unfortunately, most people will only remember his boneheaded penalties and how costly they proved for Green Bay in crucial primetime moments.
