Rasul Douglas explains bizarre personal foul in Packers-Lions

Green Bay Packers defensive back Rasul Douglas had an odd personal foul called against him in the team’s loss to the Detroit Lions. He explained himself on Monday.
Rasul Douglas looked like he wanted to swipe the ball before it was even snapped prior to a Detroit Lions field-goal attempt, leaving even NBC’s Cris Collinsworth floored, stating he’d never seen anything like it before.
Douglas went viral on social media for his actions. Had the man simply forgot the rules, or was there something else at play?
Despite the social media reaction, Douglas explained himself on Monday. It turns out, the reasoning wasn’t so simple after all.
“Crazy people don’t get why I did this . He missed a kick earlier in the game and we called timeout on this play . I wasn’t about to let him get a free kick so I did this . Now me hitting him after he pushed me I take full accountability for,” Douglas said.

Michael Badgley would go on to make the kick anyway, so Douglas attempt to get in his head did not work. Douglas essentially took the ‘freezing the kicker’ strategy to the next level. Perhaps it would have worked had he not shoved a Lions special teams member to draw a flag.
Douglas has been around long enough to pick up some unique game management strategy. He’s been on Green Bay’s special teams unit for two years now. Prior to that, Douglas was drafted in 2017 by the Eagles and has made stops with the Panthers, Raiders, Texans, and Cardinals.
This season, Douglas made a profound impact in the Green Bay secondary, recording four interceptions along with 80 tackles and 13 pass breakups in just 11 games. He only started four of those contests.
