Everything Aaron Rodgers said about his Packers future and potential retirement

Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers wouldn’t commit to a future with the franchise after losing to the Lions on Sunday night.

The Packers No. 12 may have walked off the Lambeau Field grass for the final time as a player on Sunday night, as Green Bay fell to the Detroit Lions, thus ending any postseason aspirations.

Green Bay had played better in recent weeks, but in Week 18 looked like their early-season selves. Bad turnovers, inefficient offense and a lack of splash plays in other facets of the game doomed the Packers, and gave a feisty Lions team with little to play for just enough hope.

After the game, Rodgers and Randall Cobb walked off the field together, arm in arm, in what looked like a critical moment in their Packers career. Rodgers didn’t want to swap game jerseys with Jameson Williams of the Lions, stating this one was special.

How long has Aaron Rodgers been in the NFL?

2005 was Aaron Rodgers first season in the NFL, so he’s played with the Packers for 17 years. In that time, he’s made 10 Pro Bowl, is a four-time All Pro, and won four MVPs and a Super Bowl.

When Rodgers stepped to the podium for postgame media availability, he was forced to face questions about his uncertain future. Having answered many of these same questions last season, No. 12 handled the awkward situation with grace.

The press conference, which went approximately 20 minutes, noted that it was too early to make such a decision as there was so much emotion attached.

Did Aaron Rodgers retire?

Rodgers felt like he left it all out on the field, but as of the morning after their season ended, the Packers quarterback has not retired from the NFL.

There was plenty of speculation after he didn’t want to swap jerseys with Lions wide receiver Jameson Williams, but Rodgers explained he intended to give the jersey he wore on Sunday night as a gift, and would send the Detroit rookie another, instead.

What did Aaron Rodgers say about Jordan Love, Packers?

Aaron would not commit to his future, but did say he noticed strides made by Jordan Love this past season and thought he’d be in professional football for a long time. Rodgers stated that no quarterback is ever ready to take over as a starter, but they often learn on the fly. It’s not a ringing endorsement for Love, but it offers as much truth as we’ve ever seen from Rodgers on his likely successor.
