Quay Walker reveals conversation he had with Lions trainer: What he said

Quay Walker was the subject of negative attention on Sunday night for shoving a Detroit Lions trainer. He since spoke with the trainer, here’s what he said.

Green Bay Packers linebacker Quay Walker was unquestionably the villain on Sunday Night Football in the regular season finale of the 2022 NFL season. Walker confusingly shoved a Lions trainer as he was trying to administer aid to an injured player.

An ejection was served, and Walker exited the field in a loud fashion, yelling in the tunnel as he was escorted out.

On Monday morning after the game, Walker had a few preliminary comments and a public apology for the incident. He has since also revealed that he has spoken to the trainer in question after his early apology included just a general apology to the unnamed trainer.

Quay Walker reveals he has spoken to Lions trainer he shoved

While Quay Walker’s actions were obviously wrong, he has owned the incident wholeheartedly in a very public fashion. He might be on damage control, but he’s saying the right things.

Packers reporter for ESPN, Rob Demovsky, said Walker said he spoke to the trainer and apologized to him directly. He continues to be contrite for his actions.

Walker shoved a trainer earlier this season in a game against the Bills, so the fact that this incident is kind of a double-down on similar behavior is… not the best look.

The context around the Week 18 shove of the Lions employee makes it a bit worse. Most NFL fans know about Damar Hamlin’s heart attack and have heard about how quick aid from trainers on the Bills team helped save his life. Everyone in the NFL community has front of mind just how important swift response from athletic trainers and medical staff is.

Obviously, the heat of the moment in a win-and-get-in got to Walker, but there’s no excuse. He knows that, and has said as much.
