Tyler Lockett reveals what Seahawks must do to beat 49ers

On Monday night, Seattle Seahawks star receiver Tyler Lockett spoke to FanSided’s Matt Verderame, stating what his team must do to beat the San Francisco 49ers.

Two games. Two losses.

That’s the reality for the Seattle Seahawks when facing the San Francisco 49ers this year. More difficult in some ways are the circumstances within those defeats. In Week 2, the Seahawks’ offense was shut out, only scoring on a blocked field goal. Three months later on a Thursday night at Lumen Field, Seattle managed only three points before garbage time.

Yet Tyler Lockett has hope, and believes he knows the way for Seattle to pull an upset in the NFC Wild Card round at San Francisco come Saturday afternoon.

“I think offensively, we’ve got to take advantage of the red zone,” Lockett said. “The last few games we haven’t been able to score in the red zone, and I think that’s difference between three points and seven points. As many chances as we get to be in that red zone, we have to capitalize and finish.”

Lockett’s point about the red zone is a wise one. Despite being the best unit in the game, San Francisco’s defense only ranks 20th inside the 20-yard line, allowing touchdowns on 56.8 percent of trips. However, Seattle’s offense checks in a grotesque 28th at 47.3 percent.

In the two matchups between the NFC West foes this season, Seattle’s offense converted once out of two attempts. Frankly, the Seahawks need more opportunities, and then as Lockett points out, must cash in.

Lockett spoke to FanSided as part of a campaign with Vita Coco, a leading coconut water brand which has helped the former Kansas State star in his health and wellness journey since being drafted to the NFL.
