Ranking 3 teams rumored to be interested in Tom Brady by best fit

Tom Brady will be a free agent this offseason. While retirement (again) is not out of the question, these teams are rumored to be interested.

Tom Brady is not done with this season yet. But he will be soon, whether by elimination or, as he hopes, his eighth Super Bowl ring. After, he’ll be a free agent. He could retire (again), he could re-sign, or he could move onto a new team.

Ian Rapoport reported on Sunday morning that there’s a chance Brady, if he decides to keep playing, won’t return to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, though they will be making efforts to get him back this offseason as well.

Rapoport named three teams other than the incumbent that are interested in signing Brady here:

The Raiders, 49ers, and Titans. Interesting. Let’s rank those three teams from worst to best fit for both sides: Brady and the team.

Worst fit for Tom Brady: Tennessee Titans

The Titans would unquestionably get better by adding Brady, but does the fit actually make sense? Tennessee employs a run-heavy offense that kept Ryan Tannehill mostly out of harm’s way, but the offensive line isn’t ready to protect a pass-heavy QB like Brady. As we know, that’s important, given his age.

The Titans allowed pressures on 24.3 percent of Tannehill’s dropbacks, seventh-most in the NFL. The Bucs attempted the most passes in the league this season, the Titans were third-lowest.

It would be a dramatic shift in style for either the Titans or Brady, likely both.

The Titans would benefit from Brady just like any team in the league would, but it’s not in his best interest to pursue this marriage too seriously.
