Mike McCarthy apologizes for stiff arming photographer in the face

A photographer who was shoved by Mike McCarthy after the Dallas Cowboys’ Divisional Round loss informed Twitter that the head coach apologized.

The Dallas Cowboys once again suffered another frustrating playoff loss, and it prevented them from reaching the NFC Championship Game for the first time since the 1995 season. The offense couldn’t do much to put points on the San Francisco 49ers defense and overcome the loss of running back Tony Pollard, who suffered a high ankle sprain and fractured fibula. The Cowboys ended up on the losing end 19-12, as their final drive fell flat, highlighted by a failed hook and ladder play.

After the game, head coach Mike McCarthy was photographed seemingly pushing a cameraman out of his way as he walked off of the field at Levi’s Stadium.

The photojournalist, Noah Bullard of NBC Dallas-Fort Worth tweeted out an update regarding the incident, saying McCarthy didn’t push him. Rather, he placed his hands on the lens. Bullard said that McCarthy reached out to him to apologize during a meeting in the coach’s office.

Bullard also tweeted out a video of the incident, which showed McCarthy placing his hand on the lens, not pushing the camera out of the way full force.

There you have it. Bullard said it wasn’t a shove by McCarthy, and said the coach apologized to him.

McCarthy once again had his playoff run at the hands of the 49ers. This is the fourth time this has happened — twice as head coach of the Green Bay Packers and twice as the sideline boss for the Cowboys.

While Cowboys fans expressed frustration with McCarthy for the game-planning and clock management, owner Jerry Jones stuck by him, saying after the game that the Divisional Round loss doesn’t affect his status with the team.

The photo may have looked like McCarthy forcefully pushed Bullard out of the way, the NBC photojournalist said that that wasn’t the case.
