Empire State Building has some explaining to do after selling out with Eagles’ Keely green
Empire State Building lacked any awareness at all by sporting Philadelphia Eagles Kelly green.
The Empire State Building failed to realize the error in its ways by celebrating the Philadelphia Eagles‘ NFC Championship victory by selling out with some Kelly green.
While the iconic skyscraper highlighting the Manhattan skyline often celebrates a major team’s championship by going with lights in their color scheme, this is a New York Giants town. Although the New York Jets’ primary color is green, they have not been to a Super Bowl in well over 50 years. Not only that, but the Giants just so happen to be one of Philadelphia’s biggest NFC rivals…
Many New Yorkers cannot wait for the AFC Championship Game to end because that way, the Empire State Building will either be Kansas City Chiefs red or Cincinnati Bengals orange.
Empire State Building had the audacity to go Philadelphia Eagles Kelly green
I understand that this is supposed to be a kind gesture, but some things are more important than being kind. While New York may try to act like the bigger city in all this, Philadelphia will never let them hear the end of it. The Giants may have four times the Super Bowls over the Eagles, but the Birds are one win away from cutting that in half, winning two more recently than the Giants have.
If the Empire State Building waited until sometime around midnight, they could have alternated between the green and red and try to convince the rest of the five boroughs that Christmas is coming and you need to buy gifts. In this economy? In this economy! If it were green and orange, then New York could be more about The U than Mario Cristobal’s Miami Hurricanes dumpster fire.
Let’s be real, what are you even doing? You are trying to be nice, clearly, but playing nice does not win you championships. It is Sunday night and people have to go to work in the morning. The last thing many New Yorkers wanted to see was the Eagles win the NFC, and the Empire State Building somehow found a way to make this even worse. At least Groundhog Day is only a few days out…
If there was ever a night for the power to go out on the Empire State Building, tonight is that night.
