Chiefs vs. Eagles prediction and odds for Super Bowl 57 (Bet on Patrick Mahomes)
The stage is set for Super Bowl 57, with the Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles both advancing on Sunday.
The No. 1 seed was a key advantage for both teams, getting an extra week of rest and home field to get through the playoffs.
The Chiefs and Patrick Mahomes had a bit tougher of a run, needing a last-second field goal to beat the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday night. However, the team is about as battle tested as they come, making its third Super Bowl appearance in four years.
If there was ever a question about Jalen Hurts being the franchise guy for Philly, it should be answered by now after the Eagles had an extremely impressive 2022 regular season and playoff run to date.
Now, Hurts and company are favorites in Super Bowl 57.
The storylines are all there. Mahomes and Hurts are two of the leading candidates for the league’s MVP award. Andy Reid is coaching against his former team. Brothers Travis and Jason Kelce are playing against each other in the big game.
The list goes on. The question is, who do we bet on?
Here is my breakdown and pick for Super Bowl 57:
Chiefs vs. Eagles odds, spread and total for Super Bowl 57
Chiefs vs. Eagles prediction and pick
The Eagles may be favorites in Super Bowl 57, but I’m going to jump on the Chiefs early as underdogs to win this game outright.
It may be a bold play, considering I could get the 2-2.5 points depending on the book, but I think Mahomes and company are being slept on in this spot.
A lot needs to be said for experience, which the Chiefs have a ton of in the Super Bowl, from head coach to quarterback to the rest of the roster.
While the Eagles have a few leftover players from their Super Bowl run with Nick Foles, Hurts, Nick Siranni and many of the team’s younger skill players have yet to play in a game of this magnitude.
My other concern with Philly is how it will hold up against an elite quarterback. Coming into the 2022 season, the Eagles had one of the easiest strengths of schedule in the NFL. They did their job, handling the entire slate to finish with the No. 1 seed.
They also lucked out in the playoffs, getting to face Daniel Jones, Brock Purdy and Josh Johnson at quarterback.
Mahomes, who is likely the league’s MVP, is a whole different animal. He’s the best player in the game at the position, and he can put pressure on the Eagles’ defense like it hasn’t seen all season.
Yes, Philly has been great against the pass and getting to the quarterback, but there is no easy way to scheme for Mahomes and Reid.
Mahomes’ ankle looked fine in the AFC title game, and the Chiefs defense was able to get to Joe Burrow repeatedly in that matchup. If the team can do the same to Hurts, I like Kansas City’s chances with the best player on the field on its side.
Chiefs win this one outright, and Mahomes starts to enter the G.O.A.T. conversation in the process.
