Eagles get phenomenal injury news for Super Bowl date with Chiefs

Philadelphia Eagles offensive lineman Landon Dickerson has been cleared to play in Super Bowl LVII against Kansas City.

Philadelphia Eagles left guard Landon Dickerson suffered a hyperextended elbow injury in the NFC Championship victory, but Dickerson is trending toward playing in the Super Bowl against the Kansas City Chiefs.

With a huge lead over the San Francisco 49ers in the fourth quarter, the Eagles saw Dickerson go down after injuring his right arm. Dickerson skipped the blue medical tent and headed straight into the locker room for further tests.

Eagles’ fans can now breathe a sigh of relief upon hearing recent reports that reveal Dickerson is expected to play in Super Bowl LVII.

Per ESPN’s Tim McManus, Dickerson will likely wear a protective elbow brace in the game but is good to go against the Chiefs.

The extra week of rest before the Super Bowl matchup should also work in Dickerson’s favor. If Dickerson suffers a setback of any kind, Philadelphia will rotate in former first-rounder Andre Dillard who has served as the backup left guard this season.

This year’s Super Bowl should feature an intense battle in the trenches between the impenetrable Eagles’ offensive line and the rock-solid Chiefs’ defensive line, and Dickerson poses as a much-needed frontline piece to counter Kansas City’s Chris Jones, among other pass-rushers.

Jones came off a dominant performance against the Cincinnati Bengals in the AFC Championship recording five quarterback hits, three tackles for loss, and two sacks, one sack of which ended the Bengals’ potential game-winning drive.

With Dickerson back in the starting five, the only offensive lineman Philly has to worry about is right tackle Lane Johnson, who has been playing through a torn adductor muscle.

The Eagles’ O-line formed a brick wall around Jalen Hurts for most of the 2022 season and will likely play a significant role in helping the Birds win their second Super Bowl.

Games are, after all, won and lost in the trenches.
