Aaron Rodgers just shot down one possible trade destination

While participating at the Pebble Beach Pro-Am, Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers ruled out this trade destination.

With Tom Brady officially retiring for the second time, that means the market for quarterback Aaron Rodgers is going to increase. Rodgers is still weighing his options regarding his playing future, and it gets more complicated as the Green Bay Packers have 2020 first-round pick Jordan Love waiting in the wings to eventually take over, whenever that is. There have been various pieces of bread crumbs linking Rodgers to the New York Jet and Las Vegas Raiders. Where will he end up?

While participating at the Pebble Beach Pro-Am on Thursday afternoon, Rodgers was asked by CBS Sports’ Colt Knost asked the quarterback if he had any news he wanted to share with the broadcast team and those watching at home. Rodgers had a smile on his face after a practice swing and said, “I’m not going to San Fran.”

Aaron Rodgers rules out one trade destination

Somewhere, a 49ers fan just punched the air — and not just because he called it San Fran.

The 49ers’ overcame injuries to quarterbacks Trey Lance and Jimmy Garoppolo throughout this season, but their luck ran out when Brock Purdy completely tore his UCL in his right elbow in the NFC Championship Game against the Philadelphia Eagles. Now, the 49ers will have to make a decision as to what they want to do at the quarterback position.

Brady was linked to the 49ers ever since he hit free agency after the 2019 season, but he obviously went to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Now, Brady is off the board via retirement. The 49ers will have Lance and Purdy under contract next season. Garoppolo will be hitting free agency, and head coach Kyle Shanahan said he doesn’t expect him to return.

A report dropped on Thursday from Pro Football Network’s Tony Pauline that Jets general manager Joe Douglas has told people that he will go all out to bring Rodgers to New York.

As for the Raiders, Rodgers’ former wide receiver Davante Adams chimed in on social media. When Twitter account “Las Vegas Locally” asked “which neighborhood is Rodgers moving to,” Adams responded with “mine.” The Raiders are in need of a quarterback, as they are expected to move on from Derek Carr, whether by trade or release, by Feb. 15.

The NFL world awaits to see what the Packers and Rodgers decide upon this offseason. Whether he will stay in Green Bay, or play for a new team in 2023 and beyond.
