Patrick Mahomes makes Super Bowl promise he may regret

Quarterback Patrick Mahomes made a promise that he will probably regret if the Kansas City Chiefs beat the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl 57.

In his fifth year as the starting quarterback of the Kansas City Chiefs, Patrick Mahomes has reached the Super Bowl for the third time.

After losing to the Cincinnati Bengals in the AFC Championship Game last year to miss out on Super Bowl 56, Mahomes and the Chiefs got revenge this year, defeating them 23-20.

Now, Mahomes and the Chiefs are set to take on fellow NFL MVP candidate Jalen Hurts and the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl 57.

With the big game just days away, there are usually promises made ahead of time from the participants. Mahomes did that on an appearance on FOX Sports to speak with Cooper Manning. He agreed that if the Chiefs won the Super Bowl, Mahomes will drink a beer out of Manning’s cowboy boot.

“If you bring that [boot] there, and we get the win, I’ll drink the beer out of the boot with you,” Mahomes told Manning.

Specifically, Mahomes said he would drink a Coors Light out of the boot. Mahomes did ask that Manning wash his socks before putting on the cowboy boots.

Mahomes was able to bring the Chiefs to the big game for the third time in four years all while dealing with an ankle injury. Back in the Divisional Round against the Jacksonville Jaguars, Mahomes suffered a high ankle sprain that forced him to miss a bit of time in the game.

But, he didn’t miss any time in the AFC Championship Game, as he threw for 326 yards and two touchdowns in the win over the Bengals. Mahomes credited assistant athletic trainer Julie Frymyer for coming up with a plan on how to rehab the ankle injury before the game and helped him perform the way he did in the AFC Championship Game.

This season, Mahomes played like the NFL MVP favorite, as he led the league with 5,250 passing yards, 41 passing touchdowns, and a 308.8 passing yards per game average.

If the Chiefs are to win Super Bowl 57, fans will be waiting to see if Mahomes will follow through on his promise, and drink a beer out of Cooper Manning’s cowboy boot.
