Super Bowl Prop Bet History: National Anthem (How to bet Chris Stapleton)

When the Super Bowl comes around, we don’t have to wait for kick-off to win our first bets, we don’t even need to wait for the coin toss.

The Super Bowl prop bet market is some of the most fun I have gambling all year, and it starts with the National Anthem.

Chris Stapleton will do the honors this year and the over/under is set at just over two minutes: 2:05.

Last year, Mickey Guyton clocked in at 1:52, a quicker rendition of the Star-Spangled Banner than is expected from Stapleton, but still 17 seconds over the set time of 1:35.

That means in the 16 Super Bowls, the anthem has gone over nine times, under six times, and there was one push.

The shortest time was Billy Joel at Super Bowl 41, clocking in at 1:30, and the longest was Alicia Keys’ 2:36 performance at Super Bowl 47.

Three of the last four country singers, including Guyton last year, have hit the over.

There are three performers prior to kick-off, Babyface will be singing “America the Beautiful” and finally Sheryl Lee Ralph is set to perform, “Lift Every Voice and Sing.”

With so much pregame fanfare, could Stapleton cut it short or will his version be as smooth, and slow, as “Tennessee Whiskey?”
