Super Bowl Squares rules

To start, every participant will select one or more squares by putting their name or initials inside the square of their choice. Depending on the number of people you think will play, you can make this number as few as one or as many as you want. The purpose is to fill all 100 squares.

Typically, each square costs a certain amount of money. For this exercise, we’ll say each square costs $1.

After the squares are filled, the numbers 0-9 are randomly assigned to the team columns. This can be done by picking numbers out of a hat with the corresponding team name on those pieces of paper or by using a computer system online.

The numbers that correspond with your initial(s) are your numbers for the Super Bowl.

Once the game starts, a winner is selected at the end of each quarter with the payments amounts (typically) going up as the game progresses. The winner is the person whose box has the same two numbers as the last number in each team’s score. For instance, if the final score of this year’s game is Chiefs 24, Eagles 20, the person whose box has Red 4 and Green 0 wins.

If you don’t fill out all the squares and the winning numbers are blank, the money rolls over into the next quarter.

That’s the long and short of it. As you can see, this is a game of chance as much as anything and knowing anything about the game doesn’t matter.
