The House of Mouse is hiding a massive bombshell as it has been claimed that Disney is the second-largest purchaser of explosive devices in the world! But that’s not the only weird news to surface this week. From psychotic owls to space babies these are the strangest stories of the past week…
A study of 2,000 adults has revealed that people will endure a disastrous date for less than hour before making a tactical exit. Exit strategies have included; getting friends to phone with a fake emergency, faking a headache and pet falling ill.
A psychotic owl that clearly doesn’t give a hoot has savaged children, the elderly and pets in the West Midlands town of Sedgley. Residents are refusing to leave their homes as a result whilst the bird unleashes his reign of terror. One victim suffered deep cuts to her scalp as a result of the bird’s slasher swoon which experts believe is due to pent up sexual frustration
A UFO was spotted flying over Russian President Vladimir Putin as he threatened nuclear destruction. The mystery craft was spotted by Russian pilots who claimed it “changed colour and height” in the sky over the city of Volgograd. The report read: “The crew of an Airbus A321 of S7 Airlines, operating flight S72046 from Sochi to Moscow, 12 minutes before reaching Volgograd at an altitude of 10,000 metres, reported that they observed an unidentified flying object at right angles to the plane, on the left side. “The object was changing colour and height, and the direction of movement. “The competent authorities have been notified since no flight plans were provided in the specified area at the time. “Permission to use the airspace was not issued.”
A scientific discovery of planet ‘Wolf 1069 b’ has been found to support alien life. The planet, dubbed ‘Earth 2’, is roughly the same size as Earth and is habitable as its average temperature is thought to be the same as England. However, it’s 31 light years away in the constellation of Cygnus and humans are unlikely to be reaching it any time soon.
A 30-year-old Portuguese dog has been named the oldest pooch ever. Bobi the purebred Rafeiro do Alentejo, who was born on May 11 1992, earned a place in the Guinness World Records surpassing Bluey, an Australian canine who died in 1939 at the age of 29 years and five months. The dog age – who’s breed has an average life expectancy of 12 to 14 years – was verified by the Portuguese government’s pet database. Owner Leonel Costa credits the “calm and peaceful” environment of the dog who spent his life in the village of Conqueiros for his longevity.
Scientists are planning to make ‘space babies’. Experts will be using IVF treatment on rockets in orbit and suggested that the move could allow the human race to set up colonies on other planets. British scientists are working with the Dutch company SpaceBorn United on artificial insemination in an orbiting bio-satellite, with the first test flight due to blast off over Canada later this year. Boffins will harvest sperm and eggs from mice and rats for the ventures that are being supported by Asgardia – a Space Nation created in 2016 to establish the first human colony away from Earth.
Scientists have found evidence of eight alien civilisations. Experts have deployed a new hi-tech approach to analyse 480 hours of data collected from 820 stars by one of the largest telescopes on the planet. AI was used to identify eight signals that scientists claim have been caused by communications technology from alien civilisations. However previous data gathered from 2016 involving the stars went cold but is still being monitored in hopes of finding new signs of life. Three million of the signals were initially discarded as Earth-based interference but the team was left with eight alien candidates “drifting signals originating from some extraterrestrial source”.
Believe it or not but Disney is the second biggest purchaser of explosives in the world! The House of Mouse is having a blast due to the volume of fireworks it purchases for the displays held daily at all the Disney Parks around the world.
Scientists are trying to resurrect the Dodo. The famous bird, best known for being dead and dumb, went extinct in the 17th century but genre-editing techniques that now exist could allow boffins to bring them back to life. Experts will mine the Dodo genome for key traits that can effectively reassemble within the body of a living relative. According to the sequencing, dodos are most closely related to pigeons. Scientists believe their work could help preserve rare species of animals that are yet to go extinct.
A poll has named London the most haunted city in the UK. Londoners believe they live in a haunted house in the capital opposed to anywhere else. Coming in second was Glasgow, followed by Liverpool and Birmingham. Belfast, Nottingham and Cardiff also featured highly on the haunted list.
