Colts News: Coaching candidates, weird Josh McDaniels-Jim Irsay story, and Frank Reich – Horseshoe Heroes

As the NFL prepares for the divisional round of the playoffs, the Indianapolis Colts have already started the offseason with a coaching search.
When Chris Ballard said in his end-of-season press conference that the Indianapolis Colts would have a thorough coaching search, he wasn’t exaggerating one bit. The Colts are seemingly determined to interview every possible candidate to be sure that they make the right decision. Considering that Indianapolis is at a crossroads as a franchise, this is the right approach.
So far, the Colts have already completed eight interviews but they have a candidate list with 12 names. Ben Johnson was removed from that list after he decided to return to the Detroit Lions for another season but there are several impressive candidates still in the running to be Indy’s next head coach. Raheem Morris is one of them and he reportedly had a very strong interview with Indy and is expected to be in the mix once the list is trimmed down.
Someone who was almost the coach of the Colts was current Las Vegas Raiders coach, Josh McDaniels. By this point, everyone knows about how McDaniels left Indy at the alter back in 2018. However, there’s never been a concrete understanding as to why. Several theories have been thrown out, and recently, another theory was added to the mix. This time, it came from Dan Dakich.
On Wednesday, Dakich tweeted that his “sources inside the Colts” told him, “McDaniels’ wife made him pull the plug after having Irsay in their home in Massachusetts & observing his odd behavior. Behavior that included being in the McDaniels’ family bathroom for a very long & awkward period of time.” Make of that what you will. Some wondered whether this was real or not, most just laughed at the possibility of it being true, and others explained: when you gotta go, you gotta go.
