Orlando Bloom on Why His Relationship With Katy Perry Can be ‘Really, Really Challenging’

Orlando Bloom considers Katy Perry his fiancée, “baby mama, and life partner,” as he told Flaunt magazine. But their relationship is not the easiest sometimes, he admitted, in part because of their different jobs in the entertainment industry. Bloom is an actor while Perry is a musician; they two share two-year-old daughter Daisy Bloom.

For example, Perry finds Bloom’s new series, On the Edge (its working title), where he partakes “in the most harrowing circumstances known to man” and pushes himself to his limits mentally and physically, to be something she’s (understandably) “stressed” over.

Bloom said theY are good at “understanding each other’s need for evolution, both as artists and individuals,” Flaunt wrote.

Still, two artists being together brings difficulties. “We’re in two very different pools [creative industry-wise],” he said. “Her pool is not a pool that I necessarily understand, and I think my pool is not a pool that she necessarily understands. Sometimes things are really, really, really, challenging. I won’t lie. We definitely battle with our emotions and creativity, [but] I think we’re both aware of how blessed we are to have uniquely connected in the way that we did at the time that we did, and there’s definitely never a dull moment.”

As for what scares him now that he has faced most people’s physical fears, he said with a laugh, “That’s like something my therapist would ask. I think not making good on a promise I’ve made to myself, that really scares me. To fulfill whatever that mission is for myself and to maintain a sense of dignity, and not to let the wheels fall off.”
