NFL rumors: 3 new teams that could completely shake up Derek Carr sweepstakes

Despite being able to sign before most of this year’s NFL free agents, Derek Carr’s free agency is slow-moving. These entrants would shake things up in a dramatic way.

Derek Carr very well may be a hot commodity this offseason, but thus far, he’s not moving like one. NFL rumors have been slow to trickle out on his free agency and the teams he’s met or talked with have remained somewhat anonymous.

Some of that appears to be by design. Early reports indicated Carr doesn’t intend to speed through the process, despite the fact that he is the only actually available NFL veteran quarterback worth pursuing with any aggression until free agency opens (or either side of the Aaron Rodgers-Packers relationship decides to end things). Carr can sign as early as today if he lands on an agreement with a team.

So far, we know the New Orleans Saints and New York Jets have met with Carr. We also know his asking price, which, while it may seem high, is actually what the market will suggest he’s worth in today’s NFL.

Finally, we know three unnamed teams are interested in Carr.

Until we know more of the details on those three teams, it’s worth doing some speculation. We’ve got no NFL games for some time, might as well use our imagination, right?

Here are the teams that would mix things up and create some chaos if they were to go after Carr, starting with a direct rival in the NFC South to the Saints.
