Daniel Jones is hitting free agency at a great time after a career year in 2022. These five teams are the best fits for the 25-year-old quarterback.

The market for quarterbacks is intense in the NFL and Daniel Jones is set to become a free agent at the perfect time. Jones put together a career year after the New York Giants declined to exercise their fifth-year option on him, putting Jones in position for a huge raise as one of the best quarterbacks slated to enter free agency.

The Giants want to retain Jones and have balked at his reported demands for $45 million a year, which could lead to them extending the non-exclusive franchise tag on him. The tag would still allow Jones to negotiate with other teams, who could come up with a contract that New York has a right to match or let him walk in exchange for two first-round picks.

Trade possibilities could also be in play for Jones, which means his market wouldn’t be over even if the tag is used. Let’s look at five good fits for Jones, starting with the New Orleans Saints.

5. Top Free Agent Fits For Daniel Jones – New Orleans Saints

The Saints have been trying to find a long-term answer at quarterback since Drew Brees retired after the 2020 season. Two years of Andy Dalton and Jameis Winston, along with a side of Taysom Hill, has left New Orleans no closer to a solution than they were the day Brees hung up his spikes.

Flirtations with Derek Carr haven’t gone anywhere but the Saints could explore a deal for Jones, who is just 25 years old and may still have untapped potential after years of getting poor coaching in New York. New Orleans does have a ton of firepower to work with offensively as Alvin Kamara and Chris Olave headline a talented crop of skill position players that represent an upgrade over what Jones had to work with in New York.

The addition of a late first round pick in the Sean Payton trade gives New Orleans the ability to deal multiple ones to land Jones if they desire. That price is a bit steep given Jones’ track record but a desperate franchise like the Saints may be willing to pay it.
