Cowboys “big thing” could be a star wide receiver other than OBJ

DeAndre Hopkins was flirting hard with Dallas Cowboys fans on Dez Bryant’s Instagram live.

The Dallas Cowboys are rumored to be doing “something big.” That could mean anything, especially knowing Jerry Jones and his tendency to story-tell during his appearances to keep fans on the line.

But the Cowboys brand, even if they haven’t won much of anything lately, is still incredibly strong, and just the very idea of a new star putting a helmet with a star on it is enough to get the masses interested.

While most of us are thinking the “big thing” that the Cowboys are moving toward is Odell Beckham Jr., who they were connected closely with last year but ultimately didn’t agree to terms with, it might be a different receiver they’re after.

DeAndre Hopkins throws his name in as the “big thing”

DeAndre Hopkins was apparently hanging out with Dez Bryant in the Dallas area on Monday. Bryant, who was live on Instagram, handed the phone to Hopkins where he promptly got Cowboys fans way more excited than they needed to be:

“I keep hearing y’all say my name around here. What’s up? Talk to me,” Hopkins said, prodding Cowboys fans.

Hopkins, currently under contract with the Cardinals until 2025, has hit the trade block according to Bally Sports insider Michael Silver.

Teams need to get their salary cap sheets in order, and fast, so it’s expected that there will be a resolution to the Hopkins storyline soon. While Cowboys fans probably hope he’s one of Prescott’s new weapons, it’s hard to imagine that actually coming to fruition. The Beckham situation was slow-moving, and that seems to be the pace Dallas has moved with in regard to future moves. Time is of the essence with Hopkins if he is, indeed available.

More likely is that the “big move” is Beckham, or, simply, nothing more than Jones-speak.
