NFL rumors: Kellen Moore, Ezekiel Elliott could team up for ultimate revenge on Cowboys

Kellen Moore was let go and Ezekiel Elliott was cut by the Cowboys this offseason. Now the two might be teaming up to torture Dallas.

The Dallas Cowboys haven’t been short on big moves this offseason, but the first major domino that fell was parting ways with offensive coordinator Kellen Moore, who almost immediately was snatched up and hired by the Los Angeles Chargers. And now he might be looking to have an old friend join him in the City of Angels, one who was also let loose by Dallas this offseason.

Ezekiel Elliott was informed of his release by the Cowboys around the start of free agency, a long-expected move by the front office. He’s designated as a post-June 1 cut in order to maximize salary cap savings, but the question has been where he’ll land next.

If you follow the odds, that landing spot might be with Kellen Moore and the Chargers.

NFL rumors: Ezekiel Elliott, Kellen Moore could team up on Chargers to torture Cowboys

As noted by SI’s Charger Report, the latest odds on where Ezekiel Elliott will sign have the Chargers as heavy favorites at +275 to sign the running back.

Obviously, the familiarity between Moore and Zeke plays a big role in that being the case. However, the situation with Austin Ekeler has made it even more likely. The longtime Chargers running back wants a pay raise, which LA appears reluctant to give him, hence why he’s demanded a trade.

That leaves the Bolts in a tough spot at running back, especially given Ekeler’s value to Justin Herbert and the offense as a running and receiving threat. Thus, bringing in a familiar face for the new OC in Zeke would make a lot of sense.

Of course, the odds don’t dictate the free agency market and we don’t know where Elliott will end up. However, the reunion and subsequent revenge tour against the Cowboys feels very much in play when you look at the situation.
